[ He bites his bottom lip and takes the bottle to set with the others once she gives it back over. ]
All right, Sara.
[ He makes sure the water's at a good level that won't go sloshing out onto the tile with both of them in. Once he's satisfied at the amount and the rest of what he's added in there's a purely aesthetic touch to add. A palm face down over the water and a quick incantation sets the water glowing a pale pinkish, orange hue. ]
[ She quirks a smile at the teasing use of her name, shaking her head at him and watching curiously as he mutters something under his breath, his eyes rolling back into his head a moment as they do any time he has a spell to call upon.
Cocking a brow at the glow of the water, she dips her hand in curiously to test it out, then shifts to sink slowly into the heat of the tub. Humming contently in the back of her throat, she reaches a hand out for him. ]
[ He can't help but think that he's lucky in some way to get to see that quirk of a smile. This softer side of Sara Lance that she hides from the rest of the world. He's familiar with that particular brand of magic. The walls they put up to keep out everyone else and put on a front of stability and nonchalance.
He watches as she settles into the water, the expression on his face is fond. A rare one for him. He doesn't normally let himself get this close to people. It's not that he doesn't want that connection. It's that, historically, it never ends well for people that end up attached or close to him.
When she reaches out he stands only to get out of the little bit of clothing that was still on, then takes her hand, and slides into the water behind her. Giving a soft hiss at the heat of the water against his skin, he settles in to wrap his arms around her waist. His tone is teasing at her ear: ]
Bossing me about, hm? I thought you was giving your alter ego a break tonight.
[ She's gotten used to wearing different faces over the years. Putting on a smile for her parents, for Ollie, for Laurel, pretending there's still some shred of that girl they used to know deep down underneath. A smile for Nyssa, for Team Arrow, for The Legends. Not fake, necessarily, but not entirely genuine either. Not many get the pleasure of seeing all the cards Sara Lance holds in one go.
But John's not just anyone. He knows her better than a hell of a lot of people on this earth. Understands her better than even she'd like to admit.
They both know what it's like to keep people at a distance. Until, of course, they go ahead and find themselves reaching out for it anyway.
The smile on her lips widens contently as she settles her back against his chest, head resting against his collarbone as the warmth of the water - and whatever the hell else he put in it - starts to sink into her skin. ]
You say that like you don't enjoy taking orders from me.
[ His old mate Chas was always one of the few that could see through his act. Zed had ended up getting close enough to tell a bit herself before going on her way. Both of them are better off without him there and that's the truth of it. Doesn't mean he doesn't wonder after them.
What a team the three of them made.
Now here he is, swanning in time and again with the Legends. Staying, if he dares to entertain the thought, close to Sara. Even after fighting Neron, he's still here. No wink or wisecrack as he leaves it all behind to go it alone.
John grins at the widening smile she has and reaches up to brush her hair back around so it doesn't get caught between them. After, he tucks his face down to press a kiss to her bare shoulder. ]
[ Strange, how their paths have crossed and uncrossed over the years. Bound by the first time they'd met to restore her soul to her body, to the strange, surreal mission they'd both undertaken to heal the timeline.
Life had thrown them both their fair share of curveballs, and here they both were. Battered and mostly standing.
She lets her eyes sink closed, humming contently at the feeling of his lips on her skin. The tug of relaxation starts to tingle through her body, an ease settling into her shoulders as she slides her hand down to rest on his. ]
[ More hopeful and spiritual types would say that's a guiding hand in it all. John's too well-versed in the nasty business of the world to call it that. Not that he's not grateful in his own way. They have links to each other's souls which is a very precious thing. He guards it as carefully as he's able.
Doesn't mean it's always easy to. Especially with the things they do on the daily.
He feels her start to relax as the water works its magic, both literally and figuratively. They can enjoy this before there's any attempt at cleaning up properly. ]
New moon water, honey, milk, and lavender, mostly.
[ Whatever it is, it's bound them in ways she doesn't really know how to explain. Something understood in the way they are. Something that keeps pulling them together, despite the insanity of the world they both live in. ]
What the hell is new moon water?
[ She shifts her head up to look at him with a raised brow, fingertips tracing along the knuckles of his hand. ]

Just Sara tonight, okay? Captain Lance needs a night off.
[ She shifts to swing her legs over the other side of the tub, glancing down at the swirl of water curiously before moving to dip her feet in. ]

Now we just need the last ingredient: us.
