Um, hello? Constantine-san? This is Usagi Tsukino, I don't know if you remember me. [They had all of ONE conversation back in August so, probably not? She's not sure.]
I hope I'm not bothering you right now but just wanted to ask something real quick.
[ Ohhh, it's been a while, hasn't it? He fumbles with his fluid, the video panning a bit to the wreckage of the shop around him. Some of it is from the Drop last month but the rest is far more recent. ]
Ask away, love. So long as you don't mind me trying to clear up while you do.
Ah no no, not at all. Um, more just, if you're alright? Maul said you cursed him and then Obi-Wan-san mentioned Maul tried to hurt you. I honestly don't care what happened in which order but more just worried if you're okay?
Word gets around quick in this town, doesn't it? [ Groaning a little as he hunkers down to grab a bit of rubbish off the floor. There's a bruise blossoming on his jaw and his chest still aches from where he was kicked. ] It isn't our first domestic, the two of us.
It's not out of obligation because Maul attacked you. [Well, SOME of it was obligation cause she hasn't gotten Maul THERE yet but she can only do so much, he has to do the heavy lifting.] It's because you didn't deserve that and while you know that, you're still injured.
Oh, that won't be a problem at all. I don't look it but I'm super tough.
[ Uh huh, sure. He believes that. Hopefully, this takes some of that off her shoulders. Big man's got to start lifting on his own. ] First time I've heard that in regards to a curse.
[ A grin. ] You keep company with that one. I've no doubt you're tougher than you let on. Takes nerves of steel and then some.
Oh, well, I mean, all things considered, you- I mean, you had good reasons. If it was just to be mean or something, you'd have cursed Maul already, yeah? So I mean, I know where it's coming from. And "not being able to hurt others without being hurt" is, it's honestly a good solution. I didn't even know it was an option we could do but I don't see it as bad. [Not that Maul needs to know Usagi thinks this curse is... kinda incredibly fitting for him.]
Ah, well... I mean, Maul and I have a unique relationship. When we first met and he opened up to me, he reminded me of someone from home but... not as dangerous as she was. [How's that for terrifying, John?] Since then we've become really close.
[She hoped it didn't sound like she trying to say what he's done was okay. It wasn't. But she also got to see sides of him others hadn't. It was hard to see him as unredeemable when she saw plenty good in him.]
BUT YES, anyway, I can be over. Where should I go?
Wouldn't say I'm as altruistic as all that but it takes a lot to do this kind of thing. Not something I go about doing lightly. Just got tired of waiting for someone else to sort it. It won't kill him but it'll make him rethink his life choices and all.
Unique, sure. [ Sounds more like the old son needs a leash to keep him from running off and getting into trouble. Mentioning someone that is worse than Maul is honestly unsettling. He's faced down worse, sure but he's not keen on inviting those kinds of bastards for a chinwag around these parts. ] Then maybe you'll be able to cheer him on through all this. He can undo it but it isn't an easy fix.
[ John can explain more once she gets here. He doesn't think Maul is a lost cause but he's not waiting for him to have a change of heart and start doing good whilst continuing to hurt people around him. Sometimes lessons are hard to stick t, lessons in redemption especially. ]
You know the little shop on Starling with the old water wheel fountain? I'm here. Just take the rope that's tied off to get down to the main level, the stairs are useless.
I don't agree with whatever what's his name said about a council deciding everyone's fate, but I wonder if it wouldn't hurt if we all mentioned what we could do from here on out... though, no one should feel obligated to do anything about anyone just because they have powers or smarts or stuff like that. [She shakes her head. No one forces her to go out and risk her life, but she has the ability to withstand it, so... why shouldn't she?]
Cheer him on, beat him over the head with morals, you know, whichever works best. [She's not always sunshine and rainbows with Maul, she has very serious conversations with him about his actions and the consequences therein. She just wished people didn't look at her like she was completely blind to what he did to others and just kept smiling blissfully through it.]
Uh... rope... uh, well... um, prepare to catch me, I guess cause I very much suck at climbing.
That council business rubs me the wrong way too but so does the idea of full disclosure. I don't hide but I don't feel I have to. People making bloody lists with supers and such sounds like a bad deal to me. Too much can go wrong with a thing like it.
[ And that isn't his rage against the system punk roots talking either. That's just history. ]
Beat him over the head with something, at least. [ Someone needs to. Preferably not him. He isn't exactly the best on moral standings for the most part. He does what he has to, sometimes people don't like that. They aren't willing to make tough calls. ]
It's not far down, you shouldn't have to worry too much. I'll be there if you need, though.
Oh... sorry, I didn't mean it... like that. [She hadn't meant to bring up any sort of... well, she should have thought it through before she opened her mouth, dumb bunny did it again.] Sorry.
Well, if he ever gives you trouble, you can always call me, I'll come take care of it.
[Because between Maul and Usagi, they both know she can and could beat him and just... doesn't.]
I can literally trip over my own feet. It doesn't have to be far down. But I've got a thick skull, so there's that.
No worries, love. Easy thing to misinterpret. Still a thing we should all be careful with, I think.
[ Little shake of his head. ] Shouldn't have to be you and that other bloke wandering around cleaning up his messes all the time. This whole curse business is in part to force him to be accountable for his own bloody actions.
Maybe you and Obi-Wan can afford to take some time off from that one after this simmers down a bit.
[ John's still clearing up when he hears the door upstairs chingle with the happy little bell that is somehow still attached to the door Maul ripped off the hinges. Bastard. As if there wasn't enough to clear up around her from the town all on its own. ]
Usagi? If that's you, you're going to come to the end of the railing up there. Just follow my voice, you'll see the climbing rope to get down.
Obi-Wan-san really does deserve a break from... everything.
[When Usagi does arrive, she bites her lip and looks at the rope. Oh gosh, oh no, this is going to require so much more coordination.
She grabs the rope and is shaking as she manages about a whole foot down before she got tangled up and was suddenly swinging about. She 'eep'ed and was about to bawl for help.]
WHY IS THIS YOUR WAY TO GET DOWN HERE?! [She whimpered.]
So I've noticed. Seems this place isn't his first time dealing with that one on the regular.
[ Were John nearby he would've assured her it wasn't so bad. John's not the super adventurous sort in the outdoors arena but he's had to get into a number of dodgy places to do his job over the years.
When he doesn't hear her immediately, concern takes over and he heads for the entrance only to end up squawked at. ]
Usagi, love. How'd you manage this? Hold on, here---[ He reaches out to help lift her a little more vertical by the shoulders, letting her lean against him from where she's at. ]---because the stairs aren't safe thanks to that drop earlier in the month. Haven't been able to fix it yet.
Can you reach the rope from where you are to untangle yourself?
I. Don't. Know! [She whines. Honestly, these things just sort of tend to happen to Usagi.
She swallows and looks to see if she can get the rope John mentioned. She's scared to let go but manages to do so getting a good portion of her hair and her other arm free from the tangled rope.]
[With some more whimpering and a little bit of patience, she DOES eventually get down and out of the way. She's shaking as she looks at the rope. She'd rather reveal her transformation and just FLY up than do that again.]

Nothing a pint and a kip won't fix.

I... could heal you, if you want? I may not even need to go to the summoning stones to do it with how everything is going.

[ But it's starting to wear on him, that bit of a spat. He's liable to come home to worse than fussing if he shows up looking as he is for sure. ]
Wouldn't say no if you thought you could make it through the fog safely. Otherwise, I'll manage.
